Six FCA players on international duty
Jensen called up by Finland
Qualification for EURO 2024 in Germany is moving into its final phases. Ruben Vargas, who will play three games in six days, has a good chance of getting to the tournament.
The FCA forward’s Switzerland side face Israel, who sit four points behind the Swiss with a game in hand, in Hungary on Wednesday, 15th November. Vargas’ second-placed side then take on Kosovo (Saturday, 18th November), before travelling to Romania (Tuesday, 21st November).
Ermedin Demirović (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Fredrik Jensen (Finland) no longer have a chance of automatic EUROs qualification. FCA captain Demirović will face Luxembourg on Thursday, 16th November, before contesting another EURO qualifier against Slovakia (Sunday, 19th November). Jensen, who was called up to the Finland squad for the first time this year, will play against Northern Ireland (Friday, 17th November) and then against San Marino (Monday, 20th November). Both Bosnia and Herzegovina and Finland still have a chance of making it into the play-offs to book themselves a place at EURO 2024.
Engels, Breithaupt and Kömür will all play twice for their respective nations
Arne Engels and Tim Breithaupt will also contest EURO qualifiers, but with the U21 squads. With the Belgium U21s, Engels will play against Scotland (Friday, 17th November) and then Spain (Tuesday, 21st November), while Breithaupt and the Germany U21s will battle for points against Estonia (Friday, 17th November) and Poland (Tuesday, 21st November). As part of the Germany U19 squad, Mert Kömür will play two friendlies against Norway in Spain (16th and 19th November).
FCA U19 player Noakhai Banks can look forward to a particularly exciting trip; the 16-year-old will take part in the U17 World Cup in Indonesia as part of the USA U17 side.
