Seven FCA players called up for international duty
Vargas and Switzerland to face Spain
Following FC Augsburg’s victory over FC Bayern München (1-0), the first international break of the season is on the horizon. Seven FCA players are set to join up with their national sides.
Two Augsburg youth players have been selected for Germany’s youth sides, with Maximilian Bauer included in Germany U21’s squad for their fixtures against France (Friday, 23rd September in Magdeburg) and England (Tuesday, 27th September in Sheffield), and Aaron Zehnter is part of Germany U19’s squad for whom U19 EURO qualifiers against Armenia (Wednesday, 21st September in Gifhorn), Belarus (Saturday, 24th September in Braunschweig) and Slovakia (Tuesday, 27th September in Braunschweig) are on the agenda.
Carlos Gruezo and Ecuador are set to play two friendlies against Saudi Arabia (Friday, 23rd September) and Japan (Monday, 27th September in Düsseldorf), whilst Ruben Vargas, Fredrik Jensen, Robert Gumny and Ermedin Demirovic will represent their nations in the UEFA Nations League, which is into its final stage with promotion and relegation on the line in the various leagues as well as qualification for the Nations League finals which will determine the overall winner.
Gumny and Poland to play against the Netherlands
Vargas is part of the Switzerland squad who are to travel to Zaragoza to play Spain (Saturday, 24th September) before they face Czech Republic in St. Gallen (Tuesday, 27th September). Jensen and Finland are set to face Romania in Helsinki (Friday, 23rd September) and Montenegro in Podgorica (Monday, 26th September).
Robert Gumny and the Poland national team will test themselves against the Netherlands in Warsaw (Thursday, 22nd September) before they travel to Wales, more precisely the capital city of Cardiff, for their final Nations League group game three days later (Sunday, 25th September). Ermedin Demirovic and Bosnia & Herzegovina are looking to defend their lead at the top of the table with their final matches coming against Montenegro (Friday, 23rd September in Zenia) and Romania (Monday, 26th September in Bucharest).
