First Team 27.01.2025, 18:30

Defender Maximilian Bauer has joined second-division side 1. FC Kaiserslautern until the end of the season. The clubs have agreed that the details of the move will remain undisclosed.

The 24-year-old centre-back, who has been at FC Augsburg since July 2022 and is under contract until 30th June 2027, has played 55 competitive games for the club to date (1 goal, 1 assist). He featured in 11 Bundesliga matches this season, as well as the DFB-Pokal round of 16 tie at Karlsruhe, where he scored the winning penalty to book FCA’s place in the quarter-finals.

“This loan move to one of the teams near the top of the second division table should not only give Maxi lots of minutes, but also the opportunity to keep playing at a high level. We’re confident that this move is the best solution for the current situation and wish Maxi all the best at his new club,” said FCA sporting director Marinko Jurendic.

“I’m looking forward to my time in Kaiserslautern and I’m thankful that the club has let me make this move on loan. I know the second division well from my time at Greuther Fürth and I want to get as many minutes as possible under my belt to keep on developing before I return stronger to Augsburg in the summer,” said Maximilian Bauer.
