Contract extension for Jeffrey Gouweleeuw
Dutch defender to enter his tenth season

Defender Jeffrey Gouweleeuw has worn FC Augsburg colours for over nine years, and will continue to do so in the coming season. The 33-year-old Dutchman’s contract with the club, which was due to expire at the end of the season, has been extended until 30th June 2026 after an appearance clause was triggered. The FCA captain will therefore enter his tenth season with the Fuggerstädter this summer.
“I have always said how much my family and I feel at home in Augsburg, so I’m delighted that I will continue to wear FCA colours and go into my tenth season at Augsburg,” said Jeffrey Gouweleeuw. “It’s not a common thing these days for a player to have such a long spell at a club. It’s something special for me and makes me very proud.”

With his dedication and performances, he has established himself as a valuable and well-respected player at FCA over the years. We’re delighted that Jeff will remain an FCA player and will continue to be a leader both on and off the pitch next season,” said FCA sporting director Marinko Jurendic.

Jeffrey Gouweleeuw joined Augsburg in January 2016 from Eredivisie side AZ Alkmaar and has made a total of 260 competitive appearances for FCA to date, including 246 games in the Bundesliga and 14 in the DFB-Pokal.
