Fredrik Jensen’s Finland secure Nations League promotion

Finland have been promoted into League B of the UEFA Nations League. Fredrik Jensen came off the bench as his national team fell to a 1-0 defeat in Greece last night. However, due to Finland’s superior head-to-head record, the Scandiavians can celebrate promotion to the second tier of the Nations League. Greece 1-0 Finland After securing twelve points from their opening four matches, Finland went into their fifth Nations League match without dropping a single point. However, it was hosts Greece who took the lead after 25 minutes after a Albin Granlund own goal. Greece did cut Finland’s lead at the top of the group to three points but Finland still win the group courtesy of their superior head-to-head record. Finland defeated Greece 2-0 at home in Tampere. Austria 0-0 Bosnia & Herzegovina Austria needed a victory at home to Bosnia-Herzegovina to keep their hopes of League A promotion alive. FCA central defender Martin Hinteregger started the match as the hosts dominated proceedings but were not able to find a breakthrough. FCA teammate Michael Gregoritsch came off the bench to help try and find that crucial goal but it remained goalless in the Ernst-Happel-Stadion in Vienna. Austria will remain in League B for the next edition of the Nations League. Belgium 2-0 Iceland Iceland have fallen to a defeat in Brussels in their final League A match. Michy Batshuayi scored two second half goals to condemn Iceland to their fourth defeat. FCA top scorer Alfred Finnbogason did not feature for the visitors, who have already been relegated to League B. Italy U20s 3-3 Germany U20s Germany U20s have battled to a 3-3 draw against Italy U20s in Sassuolo. FCA’s Felix Götze was in the starting lineup but had to be withdrawn after just six minutes as a precaution for concussion. Both teams put on an attacking spectacle as Davide Frattesi gave the hosts an 11th minute lead. With just six minutes to go, Andrea Pinamonti ensured Italy would enjoy an even share of the spoils as he secured a 3-3 draw for the hosts. Cyprus U21s 0-1 Germany U18s As part of their training camp in Cyprus, Germany U18s have taken on Cyprus U21s in Geroskipou, securing victory through Leon Dajaku (35’). FCA youngster Simon Asta started for Germany and was replaced at half-time.
