FCA sign young goalkeeper Daniel Klein
Leneis extends and leaves on loan
FC Augsburg have signed youth international goalkeeper Daniel Klein from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. The 20-year-old, who has played for Germany’s U15s all the way up to their U19s, has signed a four-year contract at the Fuggerstädter.
“I’m pleased to join FCA because I’m certain this is the right move for me to develop myself both on and off the pitch. I can train at the highest level here and take the next step in my career,” said Daniel Klein. He will be one of Augsburg’s three first-team goalkeepers next season alongside Rafał Gikiewicz and Tomaš Koubek.
“We’re happy with the options we now have in this position. Daniel Klein is a young goalkeeper with a lot of potential and he now has the chance to develop and impress as part of a Bundesliga squad,” commented Stefan Reuter, FCA sporting director.
Leneis moves to Magdeburg on loan
FCA have let Benjamin Leneis leave on a temporary basis. The 22-year-old goalkeeper, whose contract was due to expire in 2023, has extended his deal by a further year, but moved on loan to 3. Liga outfit 1. FC Magdeburg.
“I have made this move to get match practice at as high a level as possible. I’m thankful to FCA for allowing me to join Magdeburg on loan,” said Leneis.
“We would like to wish Benjamin Leneis all the best, and hope that he picks up as much experience as he can in Magdeburg,” added Reuter.
