Baum: “We did enough to deserve a second goal”
“I’m very proud of our second half performance,” said head coach Manuel Baum following his team’s narrow defeat to Dortmund. However, he wasn't totally satisfied. Catch all the reaction to the game here.
Philipp Max: “I’ve got very mixed feelings right now. After our second half performance, we definitely did enough to earn at least a point. Unfortunately, we were just too passive in the first half, and BVB made us pay. We fought really hard after the break, and created lots of chances, but we just couldn’t find the net.”
Daniel Baier: “We can be proud of our performance today, but the end result is disappointing. We didn’t play well in the build up to the goals we conceded, but we have a fantastic goalkeeper, and showed that we’re a tight-knit team. It’s a shame we don’t have anything to show for that.”
Jeffrey Gouweleeuw: “We were obviously well aware that BVB have a lot of quality, but we played really well today, even when we went behind. We were the more aggressive and attacking side after the break, but unfortunately we just couldn’t get that second goal to show for all of our efforts.”
Martin Hinteregger: “We had every opportunity to earn a point, because we played really well in the second half. We made some poor mistakes in the lead up to their goals unfortunately, and they made use of them.”
Manuel Baum: “We missed a good opportunity to get a draw today. We were far too passive In the first half, and just allowed them to have too much of the ball. I’m very proud of our second half performance though. We definitely did enough to earn a point by the time the 90 minutes were up.”
Peter Bosz: “We’re happy to get the result today. But at the same time, this was the worst performance that we’ve put in since I’ve been the manager here. Augsburg defended against our strengths very well. However, in the second half, we didn’t push forward enough. Normally when you play that poorly, you lose. We had to really fight through to the bitter end to get that result.”
