Baum: "All in all, we’re satisfied with the point”
FCA fell behind twice in Hoffenheim, and twice Manuel Baum’s team clawed their way back. Despite that, Baum was only really happy with his team’s first half performance. “We have a lot to improve upon from the second half, even though we managed to equalise twice.” Read all the reaction to the game here.
Daniel Baier: “When you come back from a deficit in Hoffenheim twice, you can always be satisfied to earn a point. However, we were the better team at times. We switched off when we conceded the second goal, but the way we reacted to that showed that we give everything, no matter the situation. We were justly rewarded for our efforts.”
Alfred Finnbogason: “The first half was very tactically influenced, and we were the more dangerous team. I should have scored my chance. Hoffenheim played with a lot of pace in the second half, but we managed to come back twice.”
Marcel Heller: “We showed once again today that we play as a team and that we can hang with the best of them. We don’t just defend against strong teams though, but we also create a lot of chances. We have to do better with them. We’ll work on it.”
Jeffrey Gouweleeuw: “We had a little bit of luck when it came to our late equaliser, but we definitely earned the draw. We were tactically very sound in the first half, but it got harder in the second, due to Hoffenheim’s increased pressure.”
Michael Gregoritsch: “Hoffenheim are a great team, and it’s really hard to keep them in check for the whole 90 minutes. Both teams deserved to score two goals, and the draw was the right result.”
Manuel Baum: “All in all, we’re satisfied with the point, because we’ve earned another crucial point. The first half went well and we could have gone into the half in the lead. We have a lot to improve upon from the second half, even though we managed to equalise twice. We never gave up, and the players who came on from the bench made a crucial impact.”
Julian Nagelsmann: “We had a good first ten minutes, but then we lost our momentum. Augsburg defended well and they didn’t give us many chances. We were better after the break, and we dominated. We could have scored three or four goals. You have to give credit to our opponents though, as they never made it easy for us.”
