When Robert Lewandowski moved to Borussia Dortmund in 2010, only a few soccer fans were familiar with the Pole. Today, the FC Bayern Munich striker is one of the best attackers in the world. The club from which Lewandowski moved to BVB ten years ago: Lech Poznan.
Robert Gumny has played for the seven-time Polish champions since his youth. He made his professional debut in 2016 at the age of just 17. After his youth club initially loaned him out for six months a short time later, Gumny was a permanent fixture. Despite his young age, the 22-year-old made 84 first league appearances for Poznan.
When Gumny was fit, he usually played at right-back, although he also helped out at left-back from time to time. He also usually played for the junior national teams of his home country, for which he was regularly called up from the U17s onwards. In the summer of 2020, Gumny moved from Lech to Lech, where he signed a contract until 2025.
