Schmidt: "We found lots of space after the break"

After two away defeats to start the season, Augsburg picked up their first point on the road with a 1-1 draw in Freiburg. The post-match quotes are below. Philipp Max: “Freiburg have made a superb start to the season and put in another strong performance today. We decided before the game that we wanted to get something here after we lost by five goals at this stadium earlier this year. In the end, we took a point and earned it, because we clawed our way back into the game and fought for it, especially in the second half.” Alfred Finnbogason: “We’ve shown good signs of improvement in this game in Freiburg. In the second half we got into the game really well and earned our point. A point away from home is always good. Now we want to do even better at home next week.” Florian Niederlechner: “It was a special feeling to come back to Freiburg, because I had such a good time here. That I also managed to score a goal is obviously great. Freiburg clearly had the upper hand for much of the game, but I think both teams can be satisfied with the 1-1 draw.” Martin Schmidt: “Going into the break at 1-1 was certainly flattering, because Freiburg had the upper hand for much of the first 30 minutes. But in the half hour after the break we found lots of space and really earned that point. Freiburg definitely had two or three good chances, but luck was on our side. That does not change the fact that this point was deserved.”   Christian Streich: “We got into the game well and didn’t have many chances. We are not satisfied with the result because we were not efficient enough. But of course our opponents were good too, so we can live with only getting a point.”
