Martin Hinteregger cannot wait to return to action

First Team 09.11.2017, 16:25
After undergoing an ankle operation in mid-October, Martin Hinteregger was not expected to return to the team until the New Year. However, team training now appears to be imminent for the Austrian centre back. Either way, he can hardly wait to make his comeback. Martin Hinteregger had already begun running exercises in his individual training at the start of November, experiencing no more pain and having coped with any strain well. "Next week I’ll hopefully be able to take part in the odd training session," said the Austrian, optimistically. Up until his operation, Augsburg’s number 36 had played every minute of the opening eight league games. Martin Hinteregger can hardly wait for his return to action. "The doctors must be fed up of me," he said jokingly. "I’m massively motivated every day, I want to do more every day and always feel as though I could do more," he continued. The centre back would like to be available to manager Manuel Baum as soon as possible, but emphasised that "there is no urgency, because we have other good central defenders." Hinteregger: "Still potential for further development” In fairness, FCA managed to continue their good run without Hinteregger at the heart of the defence, winning 3-0 in Bremen and following up with a big point against Leverkusen. "We have shown that we can compete with the top teams," said Hinteregger: "We are in good form and have real quality in the team." Martin Hinteregger is hungry for more with Augsburg. "Myself and the team still have potential for further development," he declared. To help extend the positive run of games, Hinteregger wants to be back on the pitch with his teammates sooner rather than later. Just how soon we can expect his return, will become clearer in the next few weeks.
