David Colina joins FCA
Full back strengthens defence
After the departure of Raphael Framberger, FC Augsburg have moved to bring in 15-time Croatia international David Colina, who can play on both sides of the defensive flank as well as in attack. The 22-year-old joins from HNK Hajduk Split with immediate effect and has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract until 30th June 2027. The two clubs have agreed not to disclose the terms of the deal for the full back, whose contract with the Croatian side was due to expire in summer 2023.
“FC Augsburg is a great opportunity for me. The very positive discussions with the club convinced me that this is the right step in my career, so I’m pleased that the transfer is over the line. I want to get to know my teammates as quickly as possible and get settled into the team,” said Colina.
“In David Colina, we’ve signed a young full back who can play on either side. Not only is this versatility a great addition to the squad, but the team can also benefit from his dynamism and determination,” said sporting director Stefan Reuter.
David Colina successfully underwent medical examinations in Augsburg on Thursday, before signing his contract in the evening after the team returned from training camp in Spain.
