Claude-Maurice: “Satisfied and disappointed in equal measure”
Reaction from the draw with Leipzig
FC Augsburg played out their second 0-0 draw in a row, this time against RB Leipzig. Here’s all the reaction after the game.
Marius Wolf: “I’m very pleased with our defensive performance. We kept another clean sheet and can build on that. We’re clearly lacking the goals though, and we now need to focus on our attack so we can win some more games. Obviously, a draw against Leipzig is a good result, but we had enough chances today and I would have loved to have got three points here.”
Alexis Claude-Maurice: “We’re satisfied and disappointed in equal measure. It was a tough game, but we had the chance to win it. In the end, we were just missing that goal, though we’ll obviously take the point with us. In January, we analysed what we could do better, and we’re now showing that week after week. We need to keep this going.”
Finn Dahmen: “We have a clear plan defensively and when it works, that gives us extra confidence. We also made a step in the right direction in the attacking sense. We can be satisfied with the performance, but we’re also disappointed that we couldn’t land the killer blow.”
Chrislain Matsima: “It was a difficult game today. We improved as the match went on, were in control and deserved the point in the end. We’ve kept a clean sheet in four of our last six matches, which shows we’re on a good trajectory. We want to carry on in this manner and keep this run going away at Gladbach next week.”
Jess Thorup (FC Augsburg head coach): “I felt like we could have won the game. We had enough chances. It was only the first 20 minutes I wasn’t happy with. We were too passive then. We stepped up our game after that, adding more intensity and pressing higher. We had that big chance, but we also need to keep our defensive concentration until the end – we could also have lost the match. Tomorrow though, we can be pleased that we’re now unbeaten in six and have kept clean sheets in four of those. When you’re disappointed with a draw against a team in the top five, that means you’re doing well overall.”
Marco Rose (RB Leipzig head coach): “We wanted to win, but we would have needed to do a few things better to achieve that. We started the game well, were dominant and in control. However, we were unable to really threaten. Augsburg are a good team with a clear game plan. At the end, we had the chance to win it with the header against the bar. After how the second half went, a draw is a fair result based on the performances.”
