Baum: “I’m very satisfied with our defensive performance today”

First Team 13.01.2018, 23:34
After a hard fought 90 minutes between FC Augsburg and Hamburger SV, all three points will be staying with FCA. “It was a very difficult and uncomfortable game, which we could never really settle into,” says Manuel Baum. Read on for all the reaction to the game. Daniel Baier: “Hamburg pressed well from the start, so we had to adjust to that style of play. We’re happy that we got the three points to kick off the second half of the season. Now we need to build on it.” Jeffrey Gouweleeuw: “The key to the win today was our non-stop effort. We knew that it would be hard work today, so it’s good that we won. Last year went very well for us and it’s good that we could continue that into 2018.” Ja-Cheol Koo: “That was a really challenging and scrappy game today. I’m obviously really happy to have led us to the win today thanks to my goal. We have to keep going on this track so that we can confirm our place in the top flight for next season as soon as possible.” Michael Gregoritsch: “It was a hard fought game from start to finish, and we managed to win the fight. We threw everything at them and I’m glad that we didn’t try to be too glamorous - we just played our game. We’re very happy with the win, even if it wasn’t pretty. We’re also really happy that Koo managed to score the winner, because he had a tough Hinrunde.” Martin Hinteregger: “It was a tough game, but we managed to pull through. They’re three very important points, as we’ve now extended our lead over Hamburg in the table by quite a margin now.” Manuel Baum: “It was a very difficult and uncomfortable game, which we could never really settle into. However, we had two chances from counter attacks in the first half that we should have gone ahead from. Unfortunately, we couldn’t capitalise. We weren’t good on the ball today, because Hamburg didn’t give us much space. I’m very satisfied with our defensive performance today though, after we conceded six goals in two games before Christmas.” Markus Gisdol: “It was an even game in the first half, and we started better than we have done recently. Unfortunately, we found ourselves behind just before the break. There wasn’t much space for either side in general, and we only managed to create chances in the final stages. We know that we have a lot to work on in that regard.”
