A fourth win in the Bundesliga Home Challenge
FCA picked up their fourth win on matchday 4 of the Bundesliga Home Challenge, as Marco Richter and Yannic Bederke defeated SSV Jahn Regensburg 3-1.
Augsburg eSports player Yannic Bederke started things off by facing Regensburg’s Tom Baak. Despite several good chances for FCA, it was Regensburg who would take the lead through Aaron Seydel just before the break. It was the first goal Bederke had conceded in the Bundesliga Home Challenge. After the restart, Bederke pushed to net an equaliser, but was unlucky to hit the post twice. However, in the final minute it was super substitute Sergio Córdova who secured a point for FCA.
After three wins in a row, Bederke had to be satisfied with his first draw in the competition. “Tom Baak did a good job, he played with a deep backline and really made life difficult for me,” he said. “I still had several good chances, but also failed to take advantage of them. I have to accept the result, but I’m still happy I managed to equalise.”
Richter successful despite going a man down
In the second match of the day, Marco Richter squared off against Federico Palacios. The FCA striker got off to a strong start and took a deserved lead trough Florian Niederlechner. Richter then had to contend with going a man down, after Eduard Löwen was sent off after being shown a straight red. Richter's 10-man squad did well to deal with the setback, however, and even added a second goal in the closing minutes through Alfred Finnbogason. In the end, FCA ran out 3-1 winners on aggregate against Regensburg.
“This time, we switched results: Yannic drew and I won,” said Richter, who was pleased to have won four games from four. “We’re a good team, and proved that again today. We can count on each other. The Bundesliga Home Challenge was a lot of fun. We remained undefeated, which I’m very happy about. Now, I hope that we’ll be able to get back to playing football on the real pitch soon.”
