First Team 02.02.2018, 15:00
As 2018 draws to a close, we look back on some memorable FC Augsburg moments throughout the year. Today in our end of year review: November. November began with some sad news for FCA fans. Peter Bircks, who was chairman of the FCA supervisory board, tragically passed away at the age of 66 following a severe road accident. The team, club colleagues, former players, family and friends all paid their respects to Bircks at a ceremony at the Rosenaustadion. Bircks had served the club as president, member of the honorary council and sporting director for multiple decades. The events on the pitch were not the focus at this difficult time for the club. However, FCA did take the lead twice at home to 1. FC Nürnberg. However, a late equalise saw Nürnberg take a point in an entertaining 2-2 draw. Late goal conceded away at Hoffenheim – two early Frankfurt goals Another late goal cost FCA away at TSG Hoffenheim as the visitors fell to a late 2-1 defeat. After the final international break of 2018, Augsburg welcomed Eintracht Frankfurt to the WWK ARENA. Unfortunately for the hosts, Frankfurt scored at the start of first and second halves to put them on course for an away performance. Despite a good performance, FCA were left empty handed in a 3-1 defeat. Behind the scenes at the club, FCA sales marketing director Robert Schraml announced he was leaving the club in search of a new opportunity. Schraml had worked for the club for a year.
