Day 3 in Marbella: Baum takes centre stage

On the third day of FC Augsburg's training camp in Marbella, the players were once again put through their paces with two sessions. Head coach Manuel Baum had further responsibilities during the lunch break, as he met with the attending journalists to answer their questions. Midfielder Georg Teigl was absent from the early training session due to muscular problems. Left back Kostas Stafylidis was forced to sit out the afternoon session for the same reason and instead received treatment from the physiotherapists. Teigl was able to resume training in the afternoon, although he did sit out the technical session and instead worked on stabilisation exercises, which will help him return to full action in the next few days. "It won't take me much longer," promised Teigl. The rest of the squad was split up into small groups to complete the technical course, which featured various different exercises such as football tennis, target shooting and keepie-uppies. There was a good atmosphere on the pitch, as every good shot from a player received cheers from his teammates. Manuel Baum's working day was not over after the two training sessions, however. During lunch he answered questions from the media and it was revealed that he is half-Augsburger, as his father was born and raised in Augsburg. His father's occupation saw Baum's family move away from Augsburg. Baum also experienced one of his most significant sporting moments in the Rosenaustadium; then keeper Baum lost the German U19 Championship final with TSV 1860 Munich against Borussia
