First Team 06.09.2024, 11:30

FCA players Ruben Vargas, Kristijan Jakić, Nediljko Labrović and Mert Kömür have all been in action for their international sides, while assistant coach Lars Knudsen made his debut as interim head coach of Denmark.

In a clash between Ruben Vargas’ Switzerland and Lars Knudsen’s Denmark, the latter came out on top as FCA’s assistant coach celebrated a 2-0 win in his first match as his country’s interim head coach. Vargas looked lively in the opening stages and had two good chances to give his country the lead in the first ten minutes. He came off in the 53rd minute of the match, with Gladbach’s Nico Elvedi getting sent off shortly before.

Jakić starts for Croatia

Kristijan Jakić played 76 minutes of Croatia’s encounter with Portugal, while Nediljko Labrović was an unused substitute. Cristiano Ronaldo’s side would kick off their Nations League campaign off with a narrow 2-1 win.

One of Augsburg’s players celebrated a victory, however. Mert Kömür entered the fray at half-time with Germany U20s trailing Romania 1-0 and helped his side put in a much-improved second-half showing as they came back to win 3-2.
