FCA sign promising Croatian striker Dion Beljo
The 20-year-old signs a long-term contract until 2027
FC Augsburg have strengthened their attack with the signing of promising Croatian attacker Dion Beljo. The 20-year-old centre forward, who stands at 1.95m tall, has agreed a move from the third-placed team in the Croatian top flight, NK Osijek. The Croatia U21 international, who first scored in the Croatian top division at 17 and has scored 23 goals and provided six assists in 50 games over the last year and a half, has signed a long-term contract until the 30th June 2027. Both teams have agreed to leave the transfer fee undisclosed.
“It was very impressive how those responsible at FCA sold the club to me. They showed me the aims and prospects for the club, which I can fully identify with. As a result, I am very happy about the move. The Bundesliga is one of the best leagues in Europe and it is very appealing to me to prove myself at this level. I would like to help the team with goals and assists as well as my attitude, so that we can be successful as a team,” said Dion Beljo of his decision to sign for FCA.
“We’re proud that Dion Beljo has decided to join FCA despite plenty of interest from other clubs. We’ve gained a powerful centre-forward, who will strengthen our attacking play with his quality and power,” said Stefan Reuter, sporting director.
Dion Beljo completed a medical in Augsburg on Thursday evening and then signed his contract following the team’s return from the training camp in Spain.
