There were plenty of new faces to be seen at training on Thursday, 11th July – including FCA’s fifth summer signing, Mads Pedersen. The young Danish defender wants to take the next steps of his career in the Bundesliga.
Mads has already got to know one of his new teammates: In the opening group game of the U21 EUROS, he and the Denmark U21s came up against Marco Richter and their German counterparts. For Mads, it was anything but a nice first encounter: Rochter scored twice and set up a third against the Danish youngsters, recording a 3-1 victory for Germany. As of now, they are teammates in Augsburg and will soon be celebrating goals together.
I am pleased to be getting the chance to prove myself in the Bundesliga with Augsburg.
Pedersen came to FCA from FC Nordsjaelland in the Danish Superliga, where he began in the U19s before being called up to the first team in 2015. In the Superliga and its playoffs, Pedersen made 88 appearances, scoring three goals and providing eleven assists. The 22-year-old has also gained experience on a European stage: Last season, Pedersen competed in the Europa League Qualifying round with FC Nordsjaelland.
Since 2016, Mads Pedersen has been in Denmark’s U21 squad, playing in his second European Championship this summer. Next season, he will be fighting for points in the Bundesliga with Augsburg, coming up against big clubs along the way. “The Bundesliga is one of the best leagues in the world. I am pleased that Augsburg are giving me the chance to prove myself in the Bundesliga.”
Hjertelig velkommen, Mads!
