In the last group stage game of the U21 European Championships, Marco Richter and Germany drew 1-1 with Kevin Danso and Austria on Sunday evening. Kevin Danso scored his first U21s international goal.
Both FCA players were in their respective lineups for the final group stage game. Luca Waldschmidt opened the scoring for Germany with a superb strike from outside the box (14’), before Kevin Danso equalized form the spot just ten minutes later (24’). The second half proved to be a tight affair as the game ended 1.1, Marco Richter completed 56 minutes of the game as the Germany U21s qualified not only for the semi-final of the tournament but also for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games. Kevin Danso, who played the whole game, will now return home. Their third placed finish was not good enough.
