New signing Marek Suchý pulled on the FC Augsburg shirt for the first time in the friendly against SpVgg Greuther Fürth. He’s also thrown himself into training and is feeling at home with the rest of the team. A few familiar faces have been helping him out.
Suchý, formerly of FC Basel, and Ruben Vargas have faced each other in the Swiss Super League before. The defender also knows Jan Morávek from years ago, playing in the Czech Republic U21 side together. “It’s always nice when you already know someone. I can speak Czech with Jan, and that makes everything easier. But I’m already feeling very at home.” Suchý regularly played in Europe with FC Basel, and now he’s made the move to FC Augsburg. How did Marek come to this decision? “I was looking for a new challenge and wanted to come to a top league. You can compare every game’s quality here to the Europe League or the Champions League, every weekend.”
Suchý has goals with FCA
Suchý will take up an important role at the heart of the defence. He wants to help FCA achieve the club’s goal of staying up at the end of the season: “As an older player with more experience, I’m not scared of taking on responsibility in the team. Right now I just want to work well in pre-season. The most important thing is that I become an important part of the side. Suchý isn’t just feeling comfortable with the rest of the team, his family have also settled into the city: “Everything just right for me here. Finding the right environment for my family was also important ahead of the move. We’re feeling very settled and I appreciate getting the chance to play here.”
