An exciting 2017 lies behind FCA. Twelve months with many highs and a few lows as well as several records set. As the year draws to a close, we take a look back at what’s happened. Today we look back at the events of September.
After the first two fixtures of the Bundesliga season, some FC Augsburg players were involved for their respective countries during the international break. Ja-Cheol Koo was one such player, who won with South Korea to secure early qualification for the 2018 World Cup.
The fans were able to celebrate their team’s first three points of the season when FCA beat 1. FC Köln 3-0 at home in September. Alfred Finnbogason scored all three goals in the emphatic win.
Seven points in a week
FC Augsburg then had a busy period of three matches in eight days. FCA picked up their first away win of the season against Frankfurt (2-1) and also managed to beat Champions League participants RB Leipzig at home 1-0. With ten points from their first five games, FC Augsburg had made their best ever start to a Bundesliga season.
After a lightning quick start, Manuel Baum’s team only managed to pick up a point against newly promoted side VfB Stuttgart thanks to a goalless draw. FCA then put on an impressive performance against Borussia Dortmund at home, but it was Dortmund that won 2-1 and took home the three points in the end.
