Goalscorer Michael Gregoritsch was full of praise for his team after their 1-0 victory over Leipzig on Tuesday night: “The team has a lot of character, and everyone puts it all on the line for each other. At the end of it all, it doesn’t matter who gets the goal.” Read all the reaction to the game here.
Michael Gregoritsch: “This is such a great group of players. The team has a lot of character, and everyone puts it all on the line for each other. At the end of it all, it doesn’t matter who gets the goal. The work which we put in throughout the week really pays off in the games. We absolutely deserve the ten points we have earned.”
Daniel Opare: “You always feel great after a win. We went out there as a unit today, and thanks to the fantastic support of the fans we managed to push forward and get a victory. It feels like you’re part of one big family when you play for Augsburg. Everyone gives 100 percent for each other. It was another really strong performance from us.”
Alfred Finnbogason: “We worked really hard in the preseason, and that’s paying off now. The team is in great shape, and the wins are only increasing the togetherness of this team. We want to build off of this positive momentum, and get as many points as possible.”
Martin Hinteregger: “The atmosphere in the stadium was unbelievable tonight, and it’s so crazy to think that we’ve already got 10 points. However, we can only enjoy this moment for a little bit before we have to turn our attention to our next game. Even if Leipzig were the better side in the end, the fans really carried us to a well earned 1-0 victory.
Rani Khedira: “It was a hard earned victory in a game in which we defended superbly well. Ten points from five games is a fantastic return, but it’s only a snapshot of the season as a whole. We can’t rest on our laurels, we have to keep pushing.”
Marcel Heller: “You saw tonight that our self-confidence has grown over these last few games. We didn’t allow Leipzig to do much, and in doing that we perfectly replicated what the coach wanted us to do. There’s still a tough season ahead of us though.”
Manuel Baum: “It was great fun to watch the game tonight. It was tough work, but the victory against a Champions League participant was hardly undeserved. It was an action-packed game, in which we employed a mixture of attacking pressure and resilient defense. However, our counter attack left much to be desired – we should have ensured the win much earlier.
Ralph Hasenhüttl: “Congratulations to Augsburg on getting the three points. We played poorly today, and we didn’t really do anything to break down their guard after the early goal. We only got a few chances, and we unfortunately couldn’t capitalise.”
