At the beginning of the week, a few FC Augsburg players still had games for their respective home nations. While Stephan Lichtsteiner and Switzerland defeated a direct rival in qualification for Euro 2020, Fredrik Jensen helped Finland to a decisive victory.
Switzerland 2-0 Ireland
Thanks to a 2-0 victory over Ireland on Tuesday, Switzerland have maintained their course towards qualification for the 2020 European Championship. Haris Seferovic (16’) and Edimilson Fernandes (90’+3) scored the goals for the Swiss, Stephan Lichtsteiner captained the team. These three points bring Switzerland just one point behind Denmark and Ireland, with a game in hand over the Boys in Green.
Finland 3-0 Armenia
Fredrik Jensen and Finland are not to be taken lightly in Euro 2020 Qualification. The Finns won 3-0 against Armenia, all but securing second place in Group J. With two games left to play, Armenia and Bosnia-Herzegovina both trail Finland by five points. Jensen opened the Finns’ account and Teemu Pukki sealed the win with a second-half brace (61’, 88’).
Azerbaijan U21 0-1 Switzerland U21
Ruben Vargas and the Switzerland U21s grabbed their third win in three qualification matches, as Nedim Bajrami scored the only goal of the game (33’). Scotland U19 1-0 Germany U19
The evening was not so successful for the Germany U19s and Simon Asta. The DFB youth side lost 1-0 in Scotland and had to accept their first defeat in qualification for the European Championships. Asta started the match but couldn’t stop Josh McPake from scoring the only goal of the match. This defeat meant that the Germans had to relinquish first place to Scotland.
Iceland 2-0 Andorra

Finnbogason started the match and was brought off after little more than an hour.
