Goalkeeper Ioannis Gelios will not be sporting an FCA shirt next season. The 26-year-old has informed the club that he will not be accepting an offer to extend his contract. After 17 years, the man originally born in Augsburg, will depart from the club.
“We regret that Ioannis Gelios has taken this decision since we would love to have continued to see him in our team because are convinced of his qualities,” said Stefan Reuter, sporting director at FCA. “We wish Ioannis all the best and hope that he continues to develop in the way he is seeking to.”
“The decision to leave FCA after 17 years is not one I have taken lightly, but I would like to further develop my game and for that, I need match practice at the highest level. It would be my dream to return to FCA one day and wear the number one shirt,” declared Ioannis Gelios with his clear vision of how he sees his career progressing in the future.
