FCA’s Martin Hinteregger began his summer holidays following Austria’s international friendlies with Russia, Germany and Brazil. This time off started with a visit to the doctor and an operation on his ankle.
The defender underwent a procedure to remove a free joint from his left ankle at the Hessingpark Clinic after problems surfaced during the internationals.
“The doctors said that the operation has been a success. I’m therefore quite confident that I’ll be able to join up with the rest of my teammates and be on board to prepare for the new season,” said an optimistic Hinteregger.
Owing to his exploits in the international friendlies, Hinteregger will be afforded a few more days holiday before joining up with the rest of the squad for pre-season, which officially starts for FCA on 1st July.
“We hope Martin comes through his rehab successfully. Hopefully the break will give him enough time to be back fully fit for the start of the coming season,” added FCA sporting director Stefan Reuter.
