Dominik Kohr is a European Champion! The Germany U21 side beat Spain 1-0 on Friday evening in Krakow to seal their second European under-21 Championship title. Mitchell Weiser scored the winning goal.
It was a dream for Kohr to be called up to the Germany U21 squad, let alone to win his first international title. In the first half, Germany proved that they weren’t going to hide behind the talented Spaniards. The Germany U21s were rewarded for their efforts just before the half-time whistle when Mitchell Weiser headed Jeremy Toljan’s cross into the back of the net.
After the break, Spain were giving it their all but Germany managed to hold off their pressure until the end of the match. Dominik Kohr came on in the 83rd minute and was on the pitch to join in with the celebrations when the referee blew for the final whistle.
FC Augsburg would like to congratulate Dominik Kohr on winning the European under-21 Championship title with Germany and wish him luck for the rest of his career. The 23-year old will be playing for Bayer 04 Leverkusen next season.
