FCA suffered a narrow defeat at the hands of Stuttgart to go another game without picking up any points. “Today’s loss is really tough to take, because I think that it’s not really deserved,” said a disappointed Manuel Baum after the game. Read on for all the reaction to the game.
Daniel Baier: “Honestly it feels like we were better than them, but we just couldn’t capitalise. Stuttgart managed to get something out of nothing. We have to be more clinical throughout all parts of the team. The way we played was good, but that’s not good enough for us if we want to win games.”
Ja-Cheol Koo: “It was a tough game, both teams wanted the three points desparately. We are disappointed, because we worked so hard – in training this week as well. I was clearly fouled ahead of their goal, but the referee let play continue. We have to respect his decision.”
Jeffrey Gouweleeuw: “We had a really good chance right at the beginning, and if we scored that it would have made things a lot easier. Instead we fell behind and we’re now left to deal with the same feeling as last week of not making enough of our chances.”
Manuel Baum: “It’s a really tough loss to take, because we don’t think we deserve it. A draw would have been more reflective of the game that took place. We didn’t start well, and then Stuttgart got stuck in. A category of errors led to the goal, and in my eyes we should have had a free-kick. We weren’t clinical enough in attack either. Our shooting was off the mark. Something has to change after three losses in succession, but we won’t overreact.”
Markus Weinzierl: “We’re unbelievably happy with the result. We fought exceptionally well for the full 90 minutes, remained solid at the back and got the luck we needed at the right time. I didn’t expect us to create any fireworks in attack. The defensive stability was the key to us winning the game.”
