Despite an undeserved red card and being man down, FC Augsburg fought hard to get a point in Wolfsburg. Here’s the post-match reaction!
Manuel Baum: “We defended very well but we didn’t quite get going with the ball. After the break we were hit with the red card but we held our own. Being down a man for so long and performing how we did means we deserve a point. With a bit of fortune, we could have won the game with Marco Richter’s effort. We now obliged to head back home and put in another good performance in front of our fans.”
Jeffrey Gouweleeuw: “It was a tough game and one we defended very well in. 0-0 is a fair result and fair reflection of the game. It’s a shame Marco didn’t get a goal with his nice bit of play.”
Michael Gregoritsch: “It was a battle. In the second half, we kept ourselves in the game despite being down a man. In that period of the game, we were fortunate but also we were unlucky when Marco Richter hit the bar. Over the 90 minutes, a draw was fair.”
Marco Richter: “We defended well at the start, didn’t give them any opportunities. Even after going a man down we kept up with the opposition brilliantly. It’s a shame my lob wasn’t quite accurate enough to go in, but even so, we’ll take the point.”
Bruno Labbadia: “We knew Augsburg defend well and wait for their chances to attack. You need patience to play against a team like this. We gave them very little at the back, but we lost out on the three points by not being able to convert the few chances we got.”
