The Augsburg first team have begun their preparation for the next Bundesliga season. Mandatory lactate tests were taken by all of the Augsburg players on Monday as they take the first steps towards another season in Germany’s top division.
Head coach Manuel Baum and all of the first team players were inside the Rosenaustadion where the lactate tests and other medical checks were being carried out. “With the results we can figure out the condition of the players and that will determine their training in the coming weeks,” said Manuel Baum. During the summer break, every player had to carry out an individual running programme.
In two groups the players had to complete 19 laps of the running track at the Rosenaustadion. New signings Rani Khedira, Fabian Giefer and Marcel Heller were there present with their new teammates for the first time. All of Augsburg’s internationals were allowed to miss Monday’s meeting and will link up with the team before they FCA head to their training camp in Mals.
The first open training session of pre-season will take place on Tuesday 4th July (16:00 CEST) at the training ground at the WWK ARENA. The players will then head to Mals in South Tyrol for a ten day training camp. En route to the holiday destination of Obervinschgau, FCA will stop off in in Kempten, where Manuel Baum’s team will play a friendly against FC Wacker Innsbruck.
