Youth player Raphael Framberger made his first ever appearance in a first-team shirt and provided the assist for FCA’s second goal of the afternoon, whipping in a superb cross to find Dominik Kohr, who calmly finished. Read up on all the post-match reaction right here.
Halil Altintop: “We went into the match with confidence and the way we performed as a team today was awesome, especially Raphael Framberger, who made his first appearance, and gave everything for the team. That’s how we managed to play the way we did. We kept on believing in ourselves after we conceded the goal and created a lot of chances, taking two of them.”
Marwin Hitz: “Apart from the first ten minutes, this was a fantastic match for us. We created several opportunities and deserved to win. The fact that we worked so well as a team given our situation with personnel and injuries shows how united we are. This victory gives us even more confidence.”
Dominik Kohr: “Wolfsburg seem to be my favourite team to play against, my first Bundesliga goal was also against Wolfsburg. Obviously I’m delighted with the goal but most of all because I was able to help the team with it. We battled really well after we went behind and we can build on this.”
Manuel Baum: “It didn’t look great before the game because we had a lot of players out with illness and injuries this week. Jonathan Schmid also had to withdraw from the squad meaning that we only had 17 players. But we have a lot of depth and are well set-up, so we were able to compensate for that. It was impressive that we continued to believe in our game-plan despite going behind so early on. That is why we were able to get the equaliser although we did have a few problems after the break to start with because we were not able to press them in this period. But overall I am very pleased with the team’s performance.”
Valerien Ismael: “Obviously we are disappointed because we wanted to do better. We started well but then we made a lot of mistakes on the ball and therefore allowed the opposition to get into the game. The 1-1 score at half-time was representative of our performance because we often made the wrong decisions. We were slightly better again after the break but Augsburg did well which dented our confidence.”
