After some tough training sessions during the training camp in Mals in Südtirol, FCA put in a dominant performance beating local side FC Südtirol, who play in the Italian third division, 4-0.
It was the first time in pre-season that FC Augsburg donned their new black-green away kit, while the home side wore white-red. With a full crowed and plenty of fans eagerly watching, both club anthems were played before the match, and each Augsburg goal was celebrated with the familiar tune from the WWK Arena.
Twice the anthem was played in the first half, as Korean Ja-Cheol Koo gave Augsburg a two-goal lead at the break. The first was a simple tap in, after the Südtirol keeper failed to keep hold of Alfred Finnbogason’s effort, but the second a fine header from a well-delivered Daniel Baier cross.
FCA added two more to their tally after the break, but as Koo remained in the changing room, it was up to another to bag the goals. Dominik Kohr and Marco to be precise, as Augsburg saw out a comfortable and deserved win.
