Second friendly, second win

FC Augsburg won their second preseason friendly on Wednesday night, beating Regional League side FV Illertissen 3-0. The goals in the Vöhlin-Stadion were scored by Caiuby, Albian Ajeti and Tim Matavz. Wearing the new bright yellow away kits, FC Augsburg went into their second friendly in preparation of the club's sixth ever season in the Bundesliga. On the pitch from the start for the first time was the new Japanese signing Takashi Usami. Dirk Schuster's side dictated proceedings from the outset in the pouring rain, but created no clear chances in the opening stages. In the 16th minute, Dong-Won Ji tested Illertisser's Patrick Rösch for the first time with a long-range effort which the goalkeeper saved. Three minutes later, however, Rösch was helpless as Caiuby merely had to guide the ball from Takashi Usami over the line to make it 1-0. For the rest of the half, it was all FCA who threatened to score the second; Raul Bobadilla among the names who passed up the opportunity to double the lead before the break. Manager Dirk Schuster made eight changes to his team at half time, leaving only Christoph Janker, Tim Reider and Dong-Won Ji from the original starting XI on the pitch. After the restart, it was the hosts - courtesy of former FCA man Sebastian Schaller - who had the first opportunity of the half to score: the substitute keeper Ioannis Gelios stood strong however. Then it was business as usual for FCA: first, Christoph Janker headed towards goal from a corner, but it was no problem for the keeper. Not long after, the net was finally bulging again: after Shawn Parker did extremely well to provide Albian Ajeti with the opportunity to make it 2-0. The Swiss national did not pass up the opportunity from the one-on-one, and beat the keeper to double Augsburg's lead. The third and final goal of the game in front of the 2,000 spectators present was scored by Tim Matavz in the 85th minute.
