3-2 win in friendly against SSV Ulm 1846

First Team 22.07.2017, 21:43
Following the 2-1 loss to SSV Jahn Regensburg, FC Augsburg faced a second friendly immediately thereafter against SSV Ulm 1846. Manuel Baum’s men defeated the Regionalliga-side by a deserved 3-2 scoreline. Augsburg put the hosts under pressure from the outset, which resulted in an Ulm back-pass going centimeters wide of their own goal (5’). However, Ulm had a chance of their own at the other end via a Adrian Morina header that went over the goal (18’). FCA were rewarded for their dominant play when Caiuby put through new-signing Michael Gregoritsch, and the Austrian scored a wonder-goal to beat SSV goalkeeper Holger Betz for the lead (24’). The hosts continued to look to hit FCA on the counter after going 1-0 down, but the score at half time remained 1-0. FCA suffered a bit of a setback to open the second half. A cross from the right was on the money for Luca Graciotti, who found the back of the net (50’). Kostas Stafylidis’ shot was off-target on the 70th minute, but the Greek left-back had more luck when his shot went in off the post to give FCA a 2-1 lead three minutes later. Daniel Opare and Moritz Leitner had a chance to extend FCA’s lead, but ultimately it was Shawn Parker who found that elusive third goal, but not long thereafter Ulm’s David Braig got one back for the hosts in front of the crowd of 2,051.
