FCA beat Kaiserslauten in friendly

First Team 12.07.2017, 23:03
FC Augsburg completed their second pre-season friendly on Wednesday with a 2-0 win over FC Kaiserslauten at their training ground complex in Obervinschgau. Manuel Baum made sure to rotate his side thoroughly after seeing his men undergo several intense training sessions in the past week. The switching included handing a debut to Austrian Michael Gregoritsch, who started behind Alfred Finnbogason up front. Despite the hard work in the previous days, FCA looked lively throughout and missed good chances to take the lead through Philipp Max and Finbogason. Jonathan Schmid also missed an opportunity before the break as Marwin Hitz in the FCA goal was barely troubled. New signing Sergio Córdova also got a run out after the break and the 19-year-old made an instant impact, setting up Raul Bobadilla to open the scoring in front of 1,000 fans in Mals. Bobadilla then had an effort ruled out for offside before Takashi Usami doubled the advantage from a cross with twelve minutes to go. FCA could have added to the scoreline in the dying moments but the game finished 2-0 and FCA will now complete the final two days of training in Süd Tirol before heading home.
