Richter: “I want to fight and give everything”
FCA forward Marco Richter has been called-up to the preliminary Germany U21 squad for the upcoming Euros in Italy and San Marino (16th-30th June). He spoke in an interview about his goals with the national team.
FCA: Marco, you have been picked for the preliminary U21 Germany squad. How does it feel to read your name on the list?
Richter: It is a great feeling to be picked in the preliminary squad. I have never been to such a tournament and so I am happy to get the chance. The coach called me a few days earlier to inform me and therefore, I already knew. I am simply happy to get the chance to go to a tournament with Germany.
FCA: After the training camp, the squad will be decided. How are you going to try and make sure you are in the squad?
Richter: I don’t have any strategies. I will just give everything. It is a dream to be there and therefore, I will try my best to show them what I can do.
FCA: Two years ago, ex-Augsburg player Dominik Kohr became a U21 European Champion with Germany. What are your aims with the team?
Richter: I have many dreams with the team. We have a very strong squad, with players who have been playing regularly in the Bundesliga. If everyone is fully-focused on the tournament, we can dare to dream about winning it.
FCA: Is there a specific game or stadium that you are excited about? Germany will be playing against your teammate Kevin Danso and his Austrian team.
Richter: Of course I’d be very happy to play against Kevin. It actually doesn’t matter to me, where we play or against who. I am simply wishing to be there because it is a big honor to play with the Germany U21s.
