Forward Julian Günther-Schmidt has been rewarded with a professional contract. The 22-year-old, who joined FCA’s U23 side in 2015, has signed a deal that will keep him at the club until 2020. “Julian has developed excellently over the last couple of years and made his debut in the Bundesliga,” said Stefan Reuter, sporting director for FC Augsburg. “But we are convinced that his development is not over yet. He is an example of the way in which we consistently try to bring through players from the youth teams.” “My first match in the Bundesliga was obviously a real highlight for me. I am delighted that the coach and club staff have shown their faith in me and will continue to facilitate my development. I want to pay them back with strong performances,” said an elated Günther-Schmidt. Julian Günther-Schmidt made his debut in October 2016 in the 2-1 defeat away at Freiburg. He made four appearances for FCA in the Bundesliga last season and also scored eleven goals in 19 matches in the Regionalliga Bayern.
