"Keep the trend going"

Following the 3-2 home win last weekend, the second straight victory in since the start of the second half of the season, FC manager Manual Baum is looking to Friday's game away at Mainz with only positive thoughts. "We're not going with the attitude that we only want to pick up a point," he said. Club captain Paul Verhaegh wants to keep the unblemished run since in the reverse half of the season going. "We've hit the ground running and now we want to keep that trend going." He also believes his side are yet to reach their full potential. "We've still only been working with the new manager for six weeks, and we want to get gradually better." Verhaegh also commented in light of Sunday's game against Bremen. "Our belief got us over the line. When we got back to 2-2 we kept going. We also worked to right the wrongs of our bad passages of play. The game against Mainz will depend on possession and protecting against their counter attacks," said Manuel Baum. The situation of the squad is the same as it has been all season, strained. Ja-Cheol Koo joined Jan Moravek on the injury list following after he sustained ligament damage against Bremen. Dominik Kehr is suspended after picking up five yellow cards but Baum does not want to risk Daniel Baier, despite the midfielder completing two full training sessions in the past two days. "The most important thing is that he can play pain-free. If that is not the case we would rather let him keep resting," said Baum.
