November: Captain Baier celebrates a milestone

First Team 31.12.2017, 13:38
FCA’s exceptional 2017 has come to a close. The twelve month have had serious highs, some lows and records broken. Today, we’re taking a look back at FCA’s November. FCA had not won in 12 attempts against Leverkusen. And number 13 did not end with a draw either, however Manuel Baum took a lot of positives from the 1-1 draw against the Werkself. Kevin Danso was unlucky in the lead-up to the Leverkusen goal but he equalised for FCA just two minutes later. After that came the international break. Marwin Hitz and Switzerland confirmed their place at Russia 2018, coming through against Northern Ireland in the playoffs. However, Konstantinos Stafylidis and Greece missed out on qualification, losing their two-legged playoff against Croatia.

FCA end their home “drought”

FCA couldn’t get anything from the game in Munich, suffering a disappointing 3-0 loss, but it was a special game for Daniel Baier. The captain played his 200th Bundesliga game for Augsburg. The home game against VfL Wolfsburg went much more swimmingly. Despite being on top for most of the game, Augsburg made it hard for themselves but won 2-1 in the end with goals from Michael Gregoritsch and Alfred Finnbogason. That ended FCA’s short home “drought”, having not won in three games at the WWK Arena.
