Augsburg beat SC Olching 3-0

First Team 19.07.2018, 21:58
On Thursday evening, FC Augsburg recorded another pre-season friendly victory, beating SC Olching 3-0. The goalscorers were Georg Teigl, Kevin Danso and Christoph Janker. Manuel Baum understandably made a number of changes to the side that beat Middlesbrough the night before, and not just to the starting XI either. There were also a number of fresh faces on the bench from the U19s: David Deger, Hrovje Culjak and Lukas Petkov got their first call-up to the squad. FCA wore the new green away kit for the first time today and started the game energetically despite the hot weather. However, the hosts did not hold back either, which led to a number of half chances at both ends in the opening 20 minutes. The first real chance came in the 23rd and was followed by several more before Georg Teigl eventually opened the scoring on the stroke of half time with a wonderful free-kick. Ten minutes into the second half, Augsburg found their second: After two blocked shots in the penalty area the ball found its way to the feet of Kevin Danso, who hit it low and hard to beat a somewhat unfortunate SC Olching goalkeeper to make it 2-0. Those who thought the floodgates had opened for FCA now were badly mistaken: SC Olching refused to lie down and managed to create a number of chances at the other end. With time, SC Olching began to tire, and Augsburg began to penetrate the hosts defensive third more and more, albeit without reward. That was until the 87th minute however, when Christoph Janker converted after a good move from FCA to make it 3-0. With just second left on the clock, Augsburg were awarded a penalty, but Kevin Danso drilled his spot kick against the bar and before it had stopped shaking, the referee blew the full-time whistle.
