Baum: "We can take points off the big teams"

First Team 03.04.2018, 18:41
After picking up a point in Leverkusen on Saturday, the FCA players returned to the training pitch on Tuesday. This weekend, Baum’s men will welcome the defending German champions Bayern München to the WWK Arena. After Tuesday’s training session, the FCA head coach spoke about the following: The current situation in the squad: "Daniel Baier has a cold and will be back in training tomorrow or the day after. Philipp Max worked his socks off at the weekend so we sent him to a regeneration session today. Kevin Danso is back on the pitch after his lengthy injury spell – he’s right on track, but we’ll need to wait and see when he can rejoin team training – it is nice to have him back, though. The plan for Alfred Finnbogason is for him to complete his first full week of training since the injury: if he stays fit, he’ll be an option for the weekend." Bayern München: "We saw the result at the weekend, I watched the game as well and it’s crazy how much confidence they’re playing with, but we’ve shown this season that we can pick up points against the big teams as well. No one expected us to get anything in Leverkusen and we left with a point. We can’t just repeat the same defensive display as against Leverkusen, but we can carry forward the attitude and mentality. We’ll have to adapt our actual game to face Bayern." The goalkeeping situation: "The four of them made it very easy for me – they all get along and push each other. I never get the impression any of them put in less effort than the others. Andi Luthe already made the point in a press conference recently: Everyone is important! I wouldn’t have any misgivings playing any one of them." His plan against Bayern: "Of course, I have a plan, but a lot of factors come into play. If Bayern were to come with a full-strength squad, fully rested, things would be different, but they’ve got a Champions League games either side of us. We’ve been preparing to get something from the game, the rest depends on how Bayern approach the game."
