First Team 31.01.2017, 17:58
The away win in VfL Wolfsburg now behind us, FC Augsburg have switched focus towards the next match against SV Werder Bremen at the WWK ARENA on Sunday, 5th February (15:30 CET). On Tuesday, head coach Manuel Baum discussed this among other things after the day's training session. On the upcoming match against SV Werder Bremen: "We will analyse our opponents, just as we did against Wolfsburg, and put together an appropriate plan. It's obvious that we want to give our maximum and take all three points off the pitch. But we won't start looking at the table and working out where a win would take us. We're concentrating on ourselves and our strengths. On current injuries: "Daniel Baier still has problems with this Achilles tendon, but is on his way to recovery. We need to wait until he is completely free of pain. We don't want to take any risks with him because he is important to us. Jonathan Schmid is still struggling with flu a little and isn't quite fit, Paul Verhaegh however is fully involved in training after recovering from his cold. On new signing Moritz Leitner: "I'm delighted about this transfer, it's good for all parties. Moritz is very versatile in midfield, he can play in several positions. He has a lot of football intelligence and isn't just very strong on the ball, he also works very hard without it." On getting to know Moritz Leitner: "I know him from his school days. I was his teacher when he was in his final year. Just as on the football pitch, we was always a very creative and intelligent lad at school. He has a lot of experience, despite his young age."
