Manuel Baum: “Our team chemistry is strong“

First Team 13.09.2017, 12:10
With their 3-0 win at home over 1. FC Köln behind them, FCA's preparation for their next game away to Eintracht Frankfurt kicked off on Tuesday. Manuel Baum gave his thoughts on a variety of talking points before the session started. On the performance against 1. FC Köln: In this game you could clearly see that we are built in a way that allows us to respond to adversity well. Thanks to the injuries to Ja-Cheol Koo and Raphael Framberger for example, we were forced to rotate the squad. Despite doing this though, you could still see how much quality we could bring on to the pitch. I just get the feeling that this team works as a unit and that no one wants to be selfish. The team as a whole comes before any single individual. Team chemistry is crucial for me, so it’s great to be coaching a team that gives its all week in week out. On defender Daniel Opare: I’ve known Daniel for a long time. Ever since he first came back to us after his loan spell at Lens, he integrated himself into the squad really quickly. He was humble and gave his all from the start. After he made that mistake in the game against Middlesbrough, he’s learned from it really well and fully earned his spot in the team against Cologne. In all honesty, I’m very pleased with his performance in the game. On Eintracht Frankfurt: Just like us, Eintracht have put in some good performances in the first three matchdays. Niko Kovac’s side have only really allowed three big chances, so they’re clearly a very defensively strong outfit. Kevin-Prince Boateng has been impressive in his first few games for Eintracht, so we need to make sure to play collectively as a team to deal with him. On their best start to a Bundesliga season in the team’s history: Honestly, I haven’t seen this statistic at all. What’s certain is that we’ve presented ourselves very well in the three games that we have played. I’m not only satisfied with the points we’ve earned, but also with the way in which we’ve carried ourselves in those three games.
