Hinteregger on Gladbach: “We shouldn’t be nervous”

First Team 25.08.2017, 10:51
FC Augsburg have their first home game ahead of them on Saturday as Borussia Mönchengladbach travel to the WWK Arena. “Gladbach are a very different team to HSV,” stated FCA head coach, Manuel Baum. “I’d say Borussia are one of the top five or six teams in the league. They are fluid and have a lot of players with individual quality too so we can’t let them get a foothold on the game.” Baum’s first Bundesliga game as FCA head coach came against Borussia where FCA won 1-0 thanks to a header from Martin Hinteregger. “I’d be very happy if I could do that again on Saturday”, said Hinteregger before adding “but at the end of the day I don’t care who scores as long as someone does.” Despite defeats in the cup to Magdeburg and a Matchday 1 loss to HSV, the Austrian isn’t nervous. “It’s not the end of the world to lose our first couple of matches. We shouldn’t worry as we’ve got no points on the board after only one game.” However, the defender is also seeking to get a win before the international break: “We want to give our fans a win and something to celebrate,” said ‘Hinti’ on the weekend’s game against his former club. “It didn’t go too well for me at Gladbach. It was too big of a jump but, at Augsburg, I’m in the right place,” believes Hinteregger. Hinteregger isn’t disappointed at the fact that he will not be facing Raul Bobadilla on Saturday following Bobadilla’s recent transfer from FCA to Gladbach. “When Boba is in full flow, I don’t want to face him”, smirked the defender. In terms of who will be in the starting XI for FCA this weekend, Manuel Baum did not reveal a lot. “Caiuby and Jan Moravek are back in training after their recent knocks. We’ll have to see whether they are fit enough to play.”
