FCA arrive at training camp in Bad Häring

First Team 21.07.2019, 18:51
After three intense ‘warm-up days’ in the Swiss Alps, FCA head coach Martin Schmidt gave his players the Saturday off. The free day, however, was more of a pit stop than a layover on their journey to the new season: On Sunday, the players were back on the coach, destined for Bad Häring, Austria, where they will complete the training camp.   Following a morning training session, the team bus departed for Austria, boasting the new FCA design. Later in the afternoon, the squad arrived in Bad Häring, at the hotel, their home for the next eight days. Marco Richter, who was granted an extra few days’ rest after the U21 European Championship, has rejoined his teammates for the training camp. Also back onboard, as expected, is Martin Hinteregger, who has been working individually in Salzburg, recovering from a rib injury. Soon to join the squad, is Alfred Finnbogason, whose recent recovery programme has made it possible to participate in the training camp. Gouweleeuw, Götze, Córdov, Morávek and Khedira did not travel Martin Schmidt has made clear the importance of players at the training camp being able to cope with strain, both on and off the ball. If that is not the case, they will make full use of the optimal recovery facilities in Augsburg. Jeffrey Gouweleeuw, Felix Götze and Sergio Córdova are doing just that. Jan Moravek, who suffered a minor toe fracture at the tournament in Heimstetten and Rani Khedira (tendon problems), did not travel to the training camp either. Three academy players: Stefano Russ, Dorian Cevis and Tim Civeja have accompanied the first team to Tyrol, where they will be able to gain valuable professional experience. In total, 27 outfield players plus three goalkeepers have made the journey to Bad Häring. Upon arrival at the hotel, there was not much time for the players to put their feet up. Just moments after checking in, the first training was back on the agenda. Martin Schmidt led his team out onto the hotel-side pitch for the first session of the camp.
