Daniel Baier apologises for his actions
After his team’s 1-0 victory over RB Leipzig, Daniel Baier has publicly apologised for his actions which have unfortunately cast a shadow over what was a great team performance.
Baier had the following to say on his Instagram account:
"I couldn’t sleep at all last night, and so I’ve had a lot of time to really think about what happened. I realise now that I’ve acted in a way that is not appropriate in my position as not only a role model, but most importantly as the captain of this club. My behaviour came as a result of being caught up in the emotion of the game, and I have no idea why I did it. So I have to extend my sincerest apologies to all those who were offended by my behaviour. I also apologised to the team before training today, because my actions have unfortunately overshadowed the result. I hope that everyone at Leipzig can accept my heartfelt apology. All the best, Daniel."
