Baum: “I congratulated Alfred straight away”

First Team 11.10.2017, 11:31
FCA head coach Manuel Baum is looking forward to his players returning from international duty and being back in Augsburg. After Tuesday’s training session, Baum had the following to say… … on Paul Lambert’s training visit on Tuesday: “He was already in Germany and is seeking to see lots of training sessions from many different clubs. He knows Stefan Reuter from their time in Dortmund and Paul was simply interested in seeing what we are doing here.” … on the current state of the squad: “Philipp Max will most likely return to training on Wednesday after getting over a cold. Similarly, Rani Khedira and Martin Hinteregger should be back after overcoming their minor knocks. We’ll have to test them out on the training pitch to see if they can feature this weekend. Also, we’ve got players coming back from international duty bit by bit." … on Iceland’s qualification for the World Cup: “I’m happy for every player that manages to qualify for the World Cup. Of course, it’s surprising to see such a small country like Iceland qualifying but they’ve shown in the European Championships what they’re about. Straight after the game, I sent Alfred my congratulations.” … on FCA protégé Kevin Danso: “It’s great that he played in both internationals for Austria. Even if he hasn’t been able to get a chance for us so far this season, we will be building around him in the future and things can move fast in football as we all know. He knows that he can develop at his own pace in Augsburg and has the right to stake his claim in the first team.”
