Baum: "We’ll give our all and see where that takes us.“

First Team 14.11.2017, 17:12
With the international break about to be behind us, FCA’s focus has now shifted on to this weekend’s opponents, FC Bayern Munich. After today’s training session, head coach Manuel Baum gave his thoughts on... ... the state of the squad: “The players that have played a lot in recent days have had a bit of a lighter workload. We’ve got the chance over the next six games to really push on heading into the winter break. Gregoritsch had a decreased workload again today, so we’ll have to see how his body reacts to that. In the case of Finnbgason, I think that he’ll be able to train as normal tomorrow. Cordova is still slightly limited, and it’s going to be too much of an ask for him to be ready in time for the Bayern game. Hinteregger is back on the pitch but is still in a bit of pain while training, so he will definitely be rested this weekend.” ... the previous clash with Bayern: “I’m looking forward to this game and the opportunity that it brings to go up against a coach who has achieved a lot and is someone that I look up to. From the outside looking in, you get the impression that Jupp Heynckes really stresses the importance of working as a team. When a team is full of quality individuals who are prepared to put the team before themselves, they’ll always be a tough challenge.” ... the feeling going into the derby: “We’re going in to the game with the intention of getting all that we can. We obviously know that Bayern are a force in the Bundesliga when they get on a roll. Despite that though, we want to come away with points. The 6-0 loss last season is behind us now and we’ll be travelling to Munich in good spirits. We’ll try to give our all and see where that takes us.” ... how they’ll approach the record champions: “Bayern are a very flexible side, so you have to play to the best of your ability. They’re hard to break down going forward - they’re defense is their strong point. We’ll need to be aggressive. Leverkusen also had a very high amount of attacking quality, which we dealt with well. We have to try and press them hard when they’re going forward. At the other end of the pitch, we need to get into dangerous positions and then make the most of them.”
