Baum: “We’re travelling back to Augsburg feeling great”

First Team 10.03.2018, 20:40
The 15 shots on target that FCA managed in the first half is the most they’ve ever had in their Bundesliga history. “That was one of our best halves of the season,” said a very pleased Daniel Baier after the win. Read on for all the reaction to the game. Daniel Baier: “That first half was one of our best of the season. We should have been leading 2-0 or maybe even 3-0. Their goal came out of nowhere, but we didn’t let our heads drop. We were obviously very happy to get back in front just before the break. In the second half we were looking to hit them on the counter and we took our big chance well. It was a very important win after going four games without doing so.” Michael Gregoritsch: “We’re over the moon with our performance today. We created some fantastic chances in the first half especially. It was a shame that we only scored two goals really. The third goal put the game to bed. It’s definitely not the best feeling to constantly be losing players to injury, but we dealt with it exceptionally today.” Gojko Kacar: “I haven’t played since September, so it was a really good feeling to be named in the starting eleven today and score a goal. I’ve scored for every team that I’ve played for in my career so far, but before today I still hadn’t managed to for FCA. I managed to put that right.” Manuel Baum: “Hannover are very flexible in attack and defence, which we managed to adjust to very well in the first half. We didn’t just defend well though, but we also created a lot of goal scoring chances as well. This team has never managed to have 15 shots on target in a first half before, so it’s a bit of a shame that we only managed to score twice. We shifted the emphasis to our defence in the second half. We really dug in and executed a really nice counter attack for our third goal. We’re travelling back to Augsburg feeling great.” André Breitenreiter: “We wanted to press them high up the pitch today, but we left too many gaps and didn’t win enough challenges. Augsburg proved again how dangerous they are crossing the ball into the area. We were back in it when we managed to equalise, but we conceded the second goal far too easily. We showed a clear improvement in the second half, although Augsburg perfectly executed that counter attack and deserved to win when all was said and done. They outplayed us in all areas.”
